Biography


ALICIA VAN COUVERING’s debut film as producer, Lena Dunham’s Tiny Furniture, won the Narrative Jury Prize from the SXSW Film Festival in 2010 as well as accolades from the Independent Spirit Awards, Gotham Awards and New York Film Critics Awards. Praised by the New Yorker, the New York Times and Variety, among others, it was released by IFC Films and the Criterion Collection.

Besides Ry Russo-Young’s Nobody Walks, which premiered at Sundance 2012, she most recently produced Joe Swanberg’s Drinking Buddies, starring Olivia Wilde, Anna Kendrick and Jake Johnson. Her physical production credits includes films like Todd Solondz’s Palindromes, Phil Morrison’s Junebug, Barbara Kopple’s My Generation, as well as numerous commercials, music videos and art installations. She served as consulting producer or co-producer on three films that were released in 2012: Bryan Wizemann’s Think of Me (nominated for an Independent Spirit Award), Steve Kessler’s Paul Williams Still Alive and Whit Stillman’s Damsels in Distress.

In 2010 was named a Creative Producing Fellow of the Sundance Institute as well as an IFP / Rotterdam Cinemart Labs Fellow; she is a contributing editor to Filmmaker Magazine.
