Jameson FIND Your Audience Award

The 3rd annual Jameson FIND Your Audience Award was established to help make it possible for one Spirit Award-nominated film to find a broader audience. The award includes a $50,000 marketing and distribution grant, funded by Jameson Irish Whiskey. The grant is designed to meet the filmmakers’ biggest challenge today: how to get their films out into the marketplace. A blue-ribbon committee will determine the winner.

To be considered, qualifying filmmakers must submit an online application at FilmIndependent.org/FindYourAudience by December 3, 2013.

Eligibility

  • Applicant must be the director or producer of a recent feature – narrative or documentary – that has not yet received significant distribution.
  • Applicants must either be either (a) alumni of Film Independent’s Artist Development programs; (b) alumni of the Los Angeles Film Festival; (c) a past Spirit Award nominee or winner; or (d) solicited by Film Independent.
  • Films with innovative marketing and distribution plans are encouraged to apply.
  • All submitted films must be at least 55 minutes long.
  • Submitted films must be made for no more than $2.5 million, including post.
  • All submitted films must be American features, whether documentary or narrative. We define a U.S. film by its key creative components. If two of the three key creative positions (director, writer, producer) are U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S., then the film qualifies as a U.S. feature—no matter what language or country the film is made in. Every film that isn’t a U.S. feature (as defined above) is foreign and ineligible for the grant.
  • Applicants must be current Film Independent members.
  • Applicants must be legal residents of the United States.
  • Film must have premiered at a Festival between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012.

All of the winners of our filmmaker grants will be highlighted at the Spirit Awards ceremony and announced at the Spirit Awards Nominee Brunch on January 12, 2013 at BOA Steakhouse in West Hollywood.
