SPIRITS
Jameson Irish Whisky & Ginger Beer
Want to know why everyone in the Spirit Awards tent has smiles on their faces? It’s because they were handed Jameson & Ginger cocktails as soon as they walked on the carpet. Nothing like some Jameson Irish Whiskey at 11am to loosen nominees up for their acceptance speeches (remember, we don’t cut people off or censor them). To get in the spirit, here’s a fun variation on that signature Jameson libation that includes ginger beer instead of ginger soda. Jameson & Ginger Beer – serves 1
Ingredients:
• 2 oz Jameson Irish Whiskey
• 1/3 bottle ginger beer
Add the whiskey over a glass of ice and top with the ginger beer – Cheers!
The Sidewalker using Stella Artois
This beer cocktail has slowly become popular this year at cocktail joints across the country. The taste is reminiscent of a sour beer and contains Applejack, an apple-flavored whiskey. A wheat beer like Stella Artois is perfect for this classy Hollywood order.
Ingredients:
1 oz Applejack
3/4 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz maple syrup
1/4 oz apple cider vinegar
1 bottle Stella Artois
Lemon wedge, to garnish
• Fill a cocktail shaker or mixing glass with ice and add the Applejack, lemon juice, maple syrup and apple cider vinegar and shake.
• Strain into a chilled, Stella Artois chalice. • Top with Stella Artois and a lemon wedge.
French 75 using Mumm champagne
This classic champagne cocktail was first made in 1915 at Harry’s New York Bar in Paris. It’s called a French 75 because the combination of gin and champagne had such a kick, that it felt like being hit with a French 75mm howitzer artillery piece. Just like the Spirit Awards, this libation is bubbly and packs a punch.
Ingredients:
2 oz gin
1/2 oz lemon juice
1 tsp sugar
5 oz Mumm champagne.
• Combine gin, lemon juice and sugar in shaker or mixing glass with ice, and shake until all that sugar is dissolved.
• Strain into a Collins glass and top with Mumm champagne.
